Wow Apple. Just wow...
So - me being me, I'm naturally trying out the new browser that Apple has release - safari (nothing at all strange about having 5 different web browsers installed at the same time is there?). And apart from the security flaws and dog ugly appearance, do you want to know what the big difference is between it any pretty much every other browser out there?
All the freaking buttons are on the left!
Close tab? On the left.
Okay button on the dialogs? On the left.
Bloody annoying.
Don't like the way it's laid out? Too bad - St Steve doesn't let you do anything to customise the appearance. Want to open a new tab? Gotta use the drop-down menu or the keyboard short-cut.
Still - it's just a browser. One that seems to lack a lot of features - even for a beta - it is a public one after all.

Live Writer
I don't know what others are using to write their blog posts at the moment, but I'm finding that the best thing to use at the moment is a free piece of software from Microsoft called Windows Live Writer.
Setup's pretty straight foreward. Once you give it your blog address it automatically downloads your formatting information. It supports labels for posts as well as a bunch of plug-ins.
The biggest downside to the program at the moment is that it doesn't support uploading photos directly to blogger. But that's supposed to be corrected in the next beta. All in all - a pretty nifty piece of software.
Weeds
Finally gotten around to watching the show - and I'm really enjoying it. Well - enjoying everything except for the bloody theme song. My god is it bloody annoying!
Very interesting and stupid flaw in Vista.
Vista has an interesting way to determine if a program is a setup program: the program name!

Don't delude yourself - a vote for the Greens is a vote for Labor
Why bother even pretending they're anything more that a pretty marketing exercise for one of the big two parties when they're already decided who to allocate preferences to when neither side have fully unveiled their environmental platforms yet?

This is a riot!
Here is a snippit which should grab your attention:
The building was good except for the chip. It had pins which can not all fit to the white part on the mother board. My friend said it doesn't matter I can just take those pins off. Now it fits fine.

When you're a celebrity...
...you can't even get pissed in public.
Of course a more pertinent question is why there's no bigger fuss caused when someone who's is commonly known to be under the legal drinking age has repeated stints in rehab...

The Internet - Bringing Mediocrity Straight Into Your Brain
Say, for example, a guy's wanting to show off his moves to the laydeez. (Not dance moves, actual, you know, intimate, moves.) And, instead of having to go through the laborious process of talking one of the laydeez into, ahem, a private viewing, he wants to show his stuff to as many laydeez as possible.
Say he has a bunch of mates with the same idea. So the odds against the guys, collectively, deciding to showcase their moves on a YouTube video would be pretty slim, right?
It's happened. It seriously has.
Fortunately, someone's decided to do a pisstake, which is the only reason I'm not trying to tear my eyes out to clean my brain.
But still - think very, very carefully before you post something to YouTube. Doubly so if you're dancing or performing any kind of motion.
(The closest I come to being on YouTube was a video of a World of Warcraft raid I was in where we killed some dragon. And of course I was on the other side of the dragon from the guy taking the video so there's no way in hell anyone could tell I'm there, and if you're not really hanging out to see a World of Warcraft dragon taken down, then don't worry too much about the video.)

WTF is wrong with people?
Pupils petrified by gunman drill
TEACHERS at a Tennessee school who staged a mock attack by a gunman on a school trip left children crying under tables in dark room thinking they were going to die.
These kids were from an elementary school...they are 10 and 11 years old. What sort of fucking wanker decides that it is a good thing to make these kids think that they are going to die? What is to be gained by terrifying the shit out of little children?
Most people will be reduced to a crying, pleading mess in such a situation regardless of their age. To expect that 11 year old children would be able to handle themselves, even in a drill, is lacking in common sense. More intelligence should be expected from an assistant principal of an elementary school.

Emo-Man 3
Just seen Spidey 3 - and yes he takes his bloody mask off again in the climactic battle. If fact - his enemies have gotten so good at doing this that they're able to cleanly remove it without tearing it just with the swing of a pipe!
Strangest bit - when I thought we were doing a flash-back to the dance sequences from The Mask.
Worst bit - whenever Aunt May turns up with her extra-slow pearls of wisdom. That and the fact that we seem to spend 80% of the bloody film watching Peter and Mary-Jane get all huffy and angry with each other and let their 'true wuve' fall about because spoilerish they won't bloody talk to each other and tell each other what's happening!!! end spoilerish
Dumbest bits? You could tell whenever it was bad Peter because he'd brush his fringe down to look like some reject from My Chemical Romance.
Best bit? His Royal Bruceness of course.
Sam Raimi? He sure could use an editor. The pace really seemed to drag through alot of the film until we got to the action sequences. Maybe because so much of it seemed a re-hash of the exact same angst we'd gone through in Spiderman 2?
Best bit 2? Anytime J K Simmons was on the screen. The man just nails the role.
The truth is out there

Music that surprises
Sometimes, you'll hear of a band or an artist,. and based on their media reputation you'll developed a pre-conceived notion of what their sound will be like and whether or not you'll like them.
And sometimes that notion you've got will be completely wrong.
This happened to me recently with a British singer named Amy Winehouse. Winehouse, who I'd never heard of before, seems better known in the UK for constant public drunkenness, fighting, numerous new tattoos and general f-u attitude.
For some reason, I'd developed the impression that she was another in the long line of 'empowered femi-grrll punk princesses' - you know - like Pink, Avril Lavigne, Christina Aguilera - type - manufactured music with an edge as sharp as a dull butter knife.
I got the chance to listen to some of her music the other day. I don't remember why, maybe I was flicking around youtube or something.
And I was wrong.
So good - I went out and bought both her albums.
Winehouse's music is best described as blues and soul. Not the crappy pseudo- rhythms pumped out be your Joss Stone's and Katie Melua's of the word. This is really dark, pulsing rhythms, with a really wicked bite in its humour.
Sometimes it's good to find out when you're wrong about something.

Stupid Political Tricks
MP's clean-up destroys an artwork
A POLITICAL stunt to remove graffiti has come under police investigation after it was revealed that the graffiti was, in fact, a commissioned artwork.
Canberra Liberal MP Steve Pratt, who has run a campaign against vandalism, spent four hours cleaning graffiti from a concrete bridge in Woden on Saturday, calling the artwork an "obnoxious piece of vivid graffiti vandalism".

Economic Models explained with cows
You have 2 cows.
You give one to your neighbour.
COMMUNISM
You have 2 cows.
The State takes both and gives you some milk.
FASCISM
You have 2 cows.
The State takes both and sells you some milk.
NATIONAL SOCIALISM
You have 2 cows.
The State takes both and shoots you.
BUREAUCRATISM
You have 2 cows.
The State takes both, shoots one, milks the other, and then throws the milk away...
TRADITIONAL CAPITALISM
You have two cows.
You sell one and buy a bull.
Your herd multiplies, and the economy grows.
You sell them and retire on the income.
SURREALISM
You have two giraffes.
The government requires you to take harmonica lessons
AN AMERICAN CORPORATION
You have two cows.
You sell one, and force the other to produce the milk of four cows.
Later, you hire a consultant to analyse why the cow has dropped dead.
ENRON VENTURE CAPITALISM
You have two cows.
You sell three of them to your publicly listed company, using letters of credit opened by your brother-in-law at the bank, then execute a debt/equity swap with an associated general offer so that you get all four cows back, with a tax exemption for five cows.
The milk rights of the six cows are transferred via an intermediary to a Cayman Island Company secretly owned by the majority shareholder who sells the rights to all seven cows back to your listed company.
The annual report says the company owns eight cows, with an option on one more.
You sell one cow to buy a new president of the United States, leaving you with nine cows.
No balance sheet provided with the release.
The public then buys your bull.
THE ANDERSEN MODEL
You have two cows.
You shred them.
A FRENCH CORPORATION
You have two cows.
You go on strike, organise a riot, and block the roads, because you want three cows.
A JAPANESE CORPORATION
You have two cows.
You redesign them so they are one-tenth the size of an ordinary cow and produce twenty times the milk.
You then create a clever cow cartoon image called 'Cowkimon' and market it worldwide.
A GERMAN CORPORATION
You have two cows.
You re-engineer them so they live for 100 years, eat once a month, and the cows milk themselves.
AN ITALIAN CORPORATION
You have two cows, but you don't know where they are.
You decide to have lunch.
A RUSSIAN CORPORATION
You have two cows.
You count them and learn you have five cows.
You count them again and learn you have 42 cows.
You count them again and learn you have 2 cows.
You stop counting cows and open another bottle of vodka.
A SWISS CORPORATION
You have 5000 cows. None of them belong to you.
You charge the owners for storing them.
A CHINESE CORPORATION
You have two cows.
You have 300 people milking them.
You claim that you have full employment, and high bovine productivity.
You arrest the newsman who reported the real situation.
AN INDIAN CORPORATION
You have two cows.
You worship them.
A BRITISH CORPORATION
You have two cows.
Both are mad.
AN IRAQI CORPORATION
Everyone thinks you have lots of cows.
You tell them that you have none.
No-one believes you, so they bomb the **** out of you and invade your country.
You still have no cows, but at least now you are part of a Democracy....
A NEW ZEALAND CORPORATION
You have two cows.
The one on the left looks very attractive.
AN AUSTRALIAN CORPORATION
You have two cows.
Business seems pretty good.
You close the office and go for a few beers to celebrate.
BEATTIE MODEL
You have 2 cows that are producing more than enough milk.
The cow department tell you the cows are drying up.
You don't believe them.
When your cows finally stop producing you just take someone else's milk and meanwhile start a new dairy further north.
